Martina’s journey in tennis is a testament to the power of perseverance and determination. Born on December 3, 1993, in Florence, Italy, she faced challenges early in her career but never lost sight of her dreams. Despite facing health issues that kept her away from the court from 2009 to 2014, Martina remained undeterred in her pursuit of tennis excellence. Her breakthrough moment came in 2020 when she reached the quarterfinals of Roland Garros, breaking into the WTA top 100 for the first time, becoming the No. 1 player in Italy after securing her first WTA 250 title in Rabat and reaching the semifinals of Roland-Garros. 2023 Martina played a very successful United Cup, where she beat world No. 1 Maria Sakkari, which resulted in a career-high ranking of No. 18. The strength to always believe. Martina’s story goes far beyond tennis. Considered by juniors as one of the best promises of Italian tennis Martina had to stay away from the courts from 2009 to 2014 for health reasons. On her return she never gave up and tournament after tournament Martina has improved until she reached the quarter finals at the Roland Garros 2020 breaking the WTA top 100 for the very first time in her career. Martina is part of the Italian Fed Cup Team since 2017. On the 6th of June 2022, Martina reached a career high ranking no. 24 and is now the n°1 player in Italy after her first WTA title in Rabat and her first ever Grand Slam Semi-final in Roland-Garros. Martina became the 8th Italian woman in Tennis to reach this stage of a Grand Slam. But history is still far from over. The best is yet to come.
